New Wii Hardware Colours Coming Soon
Bored of your white Wii? Holding out on buying a system until more colours become available? In a rather suprising move, Nintendo have gone on record to confirm two new colours of Wii systems.
According to a report over at GameDrift, the Wii will soon be coming in black and red along with the standard white. Speaking to an unnamed Nintendo representative, it was confirmed that at some point in the future there will definitely be black and red units. Keep in mind though, this is just a rumour at present.

This news will come as a relief to many and is surely a canny move by Nintendo to boost Wii sales in the future. As has been shown by the DS Lite (when the black version launched), different colours of consoles can prove to be hugely succesfull and provide a big kick in hardware sales. Don’t expect the new colours to come out anytime soon though.
But what about other colours? As you can see from the image above, there were originally all types of (hideous) colours, but in the end Nintendo settled on white as the one and only definitive shade of Wii. Before the name change, the Revolution was always black, so it is certainly no surprise to see that the colour will be coming along soon. Don’t expect lime green any time soon though.
Whilst the Nintendo source didn’t give any estimate of time, we’d imagine they will be hitting shelves during the next year. Stay tuned for updates and hopefully full confirmation from the Big N.
