Mega Man 9 - first footage leaked
Who would have thought that one of WiiWare’s most anticipated titles would be fashioned to look exactly like a twenty year-old 8-BIT Nintendo Entertainment System game? Probably that it’s Mega Man 9 helps. A lot. The first video footage of Capcom’s platformer has leaked onto the Internet today, and, yep, it’s just as you’d imagine.
The video comes courtesy of GoNintendo, and seems to play out the opening demo footage of Mega Man 9 (or Rockman as he is known in Japan). In the few seconds, the robotic protagonist is said climbing platforms, blasting enemies, and dropping from ledges through darkened levels.
Mega Man 9 is the first proper sequel in the franchise since 1996, and we’re promised, is based on Mega Man 2, one of the fans’ favourite iterations.
It’ll be released in Japan this September. No launch date for North America or Europe just yet.
