Castlevania Judgement - first official screenshots spied

Konami has today released the first screenshots of Castlevania Judgement for the Nintendo Wii, a title that has had a mixed reception from fans of the series since it was unearthed last month. It’s looking decent enough at this stage, nothing that’s going to blow your sock off, though.

The first ten screenshots of Castlevania of Judgement feature three of the beat-em-up’s fighters, namely Simon, Maria, and Alucard. The characters are designed by manga artist Takeshi Obata, and while they look rather pretty (if a little lacking in soul) from a distance, they’re rather much more rough around the edges when close up. Saying that, the fire and magic effects are looking pretty tasty, as are the contrast provided by items such as Maria’s 2D pumpkins - hopefully we’ll see more like them.

Castlevania Judgement in action at next week’s E3 trade show? Pretty likely.

Castlevania Judgement will be released in North America this autumn.
