Captain Rainbow unveiled for Nintendo Wii
Earlier on this year, the ‘Captain Rainbow’ trademark was spotted amongst a number that Nintendo had registered. Mystery surrounded it at the time, but the latest Famitsu magazine confirms that it is a new adventure game for the Nintendo Wii that features arguably the videogaming world’s campest ever super hero.
The game sees your wimpy-looking human character, named Nick, being washed up on an island, where he then gains the powers to transform into Lycra-clad form of Captain Rainbow. Gameplay footage from the first trailer sees our protagonist smashing open doors blocked by boulders (complete with comic book annotations - WHAM! BOOM!).
Famitsu explains that you’ll be exploring the island, which just happens to be packed with minor Nintendo characters from the company’s past (Birdo, for one), completing tasks that include mini-golf, bug catching, and fishing.
Captain Rainbow is set for a Summer 2008 release in Japan, but that’s about all the information there is available at present. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear anything else.
