[E3 2008] The Conduit to support WiiSpeak

High Voltage Software’s Nintendo Wii first-person shooter The Conduit might not have gotten a look-in at Nintendo’s E3 press conference, but for players with their fingers on the pulse, it looks to be one of the most ambitious third party titles on the console to date. This drive has been furthered today, with news that The Conduit will support Nintendo’s WiiSpeak accessory.

Announced alongside Animal Crossing: City Folk during Nintendo’s E3 Media and Business Summit press conference, WiiSpeak is a device that sits atop of your television, acting as a microphone to communicate with friends over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. Its confirmation for The Conduit (which we already know will support online multiplayer for up to 16 gamers at a time) makes it the first third party software to take advantage of the new accessory.

The Conduit, currently scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2009, is set in the near future at a time where the world is under sudden attack from an alien race.

It sits on top of the TV? I dunno how well that’s going to work.

The Wii has a controller that looks like a regular remote? And it has a “nunchuck”? I dunno how well that’s going to work.
