[E3 2008] Roogoo twists onto Nintendo Wii and DS

SouthPeak Games has today announced that its puzzler Roogoo, originally released on the Microsoft Xbox 360’s Xbox LIVE Arcade service, will be making the jump to the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS later on this year, complete with all-new levels and game modes that make use of each console’s unique control schemes.

Players help the Roogoo by guiding colourful meteors through rotating platforms in an effort to stop the evil Meemoos from draining their planets energy. The Nintendo Wii version of the game will, of course, make good use of the Wii Remote’s motion controls to pick up, twist and drop pieces, and will support up to four players in new competitive, co-operative and party modes.

The Nintendo DS version is much the same (although using touch screen controls), and owners of Roogoo for both the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS will be able to use the handheld as an extra controller for the home console build.

“Roogoo is a perfect fit for Nintendo gamers,” said Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak Games. “It’s a great family-friendly puzzler with fantastic gameplay that can take advantage of the unique offering of these two systems. We’re very excited about making Roogoo part of the Nintendo lineup later this year.”

Roogoo will be released later on this year. The above screenshots are from the Xbox LIVE version of the game.
