Beyblade set to make a return on Nintendo DS
Beyblade may have been a big success in Japan a few years back, but the series never quite seemed to garner as much attention elsewhere around the world, with Pokémon, Digimon and even Yu-Gi-Oh managing to squeeze the franchise out of the limelight. However, it looks like it could be set for a revival of sorts.
According to the folk over at Siliconera, Hudson Soft has now added a new listing for a new Nintendo DS edition of Beyblade to its Japanese website. Back in 2006 Tomy and Takara merged, meaning that the video game side of Tomy will have obtained the rights to Intellectual Properties such as Choro-Q, Battle Beasts and Beyblade. However, whilst Takara was the development outfit behind previous Beyblade titles, it appears that the makers of Bomberman, Mario Party and Star Soldier are set to lend a helping hand in this franchise resurrection on the Nintendo DS system, with the new game being temporarily called ‘Metal Fight Beyblade DS’ and scheduled for a Spring 2009 release in Japan. This will likely tie-in with the TV show revival as well that is currently taking place in Japan.
