DOCOMO mobile mascot coming to Nintendo DS
In what will come as a very surprising move to many, Ignition Entertainment has revealed that it will be bringing over the mascot of the leading Japanese mobile phone company, NTT DOCOMO, INC., to the Nintendo DS, exclusively in Autumn 2008 under the name Boing! Docomodake DS.
The story’s basis is set on the day of the annual festival held in the Docomodake Forest, where the Docomodake family is nowhere to be seen. Gamers will be playing as Papa Docomodake and must guide him through various obstacles and challenges in order to find his family and get them back to the festival on time. Clearly it would be pointless unless Papa Docomodake had a trick or two up his sleeve to help him on his quest. Therefore, with a simple tap of the stylus Papa Docomodake can release ‘Minis’ that aid him when the going gets a little tough. And as the Press Release states “Remember, Minis make the impossible possible!” The game’s official website can be found here.
“Boing! Docomodake DS has all the elements needed for a great platform game. The game has a wide ranging appeal, and offers more than enough to keep all gamers happy.”
- Peter Rollinson, Product Manager, Ignition Entertainment Ltd.

Ok mobile phone games ported to a technically more powerful system? No thanks.
I don’t see why the Japanese like mobile games played on a tiny screen with numeric keypad instead if traditional buttons. Phones are for talking, they weren’t designed for gaming.
Remember the N-Gage? That tried to be a phone/game system and it bombed, terribly.
If you want to play handheld games, buy a DS or PSP.
