Balance Board fighter heading to Nintendo Wii?
Wii Balance Board innovation has thus far been limited to Nintendo’s Wii Fit and Namco’s We Ski, but with the likes of Skate It, Shaun White, and Rayman Raving Rabbids amongst others, 2008 is looking to deliver more than enough to keep owners of the device happy. And if the latest news rumours are to be believed, then Capcom’s Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation could be the first fighter to be Balance Board-compatible.
There isn’t a lot to go on at present, but a Japanese website on which information of the game is detailed mentions the words “Wii-compatible board,” which, if anything, hints that some Balance Board trickery could be the order of the day.
We’re bound to find out sooner rather than later, as Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation is scheduled for release in Japan at the end of the year. Whether or not it’ll get a westernised localisation is another matter, much down to the fact that Tatsunoko (a Japanese anime cartoon franchise) isn’t quite as popular elsewhere as it is in its native country.

FYI, in arcade lingo the “board” refers to the arcade machine’s hardware; i.e. the motherboard. When they say “Wii-compatible board”, that could (and IMO probably does) mean that the hardware in the machine will be close to the Wii, and would make it easier to make a Wii port if they so choose, not that it will use the balance board.
Hmm, good point.
I agree with you. It would be pretty stupid to use the balance board. It is talking about the fighting stick that looks like and arcade board for the Wii.
