The House of the Dead: Overkill announced for Wii
SEGA was known to unveiling a brand new title for the Nintendo Wii at this week’s Game Convention in Leipzig, and today it has done just that - say hello to The House of the Dead: Overkill.
Said to bring the gory light gun series back to its roots, Overkill takes players back to when Special Agent G was fresh out of the academy. Joined by Detective Washington, they are sent to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana.
“We wanted to do something really different with The House of the Dead: OVERKILL,” commented Bradley Crooks, Studio Head at Headstrong Games. “With SEGA we’ve been able to create a fresh look for the franchise. I think you’ll agree it’s like nothing you’ve seen before on Wii.”
“Paying homage to the pulp horror comics and films that inspired generations of gore fans, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will expose gamers to a brand-new fleshy rollercoaster ride of revolting dismemberment,” commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director at SEGA Europe. “This is the hardcore Wii title you’ve been waiting for.”
The House of the Dead: Overkill will be released in early 2009.

Looks cool. House of the Dead 2&3 was a port that I enjoyed. It retained the fun simplicity of shooting the sh!t out of zombies.
I like the pulpy/grindhouse look of the trailer & the game-play’s point & shoot action. I like that they didn’t take a serious approach, which is good for Resident Evil, but will keep this from being a dupe.
I dislike On Rails shooter, but I think I’ll give this one a try.
Fortunately, House of the Dead has never disappointed, and this doesn’t look to be an exception.
