Disaster: Day of Crisis dated for Europe
Nintendo has been keeping Disaster: Day of Crisis for the Nintendo Wii very much on the back burner in terms of promotion and even details of its existence. So much so, that when recent rumours circulated about a 2008 European release date, no one could quite believe it. There’ll be none of that anymore, though - Nintendo has today confirmed that the title will arrive in Europe on October 24.
As we’ve previously discussed, Disaster: Day of Crisis’ protagonist is Raymond Bryce, a retired US marine who is called back into action to deal with SURGE, an ex-military terrorist with plans to seize a big-ass wad of nuclear weapons. And things get personal when he realises that said group have also kidnapped Lisa, the sister of a best friend lost in combat during his time in the marines.
Not only will Ray have to deal with the threat of SURGE, but also of a variety of life-threatening natural disasters (earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic eruptions, floods) - and all in 24 hours across D: DoC’s 23 different stages. Much of the time you’ll be rescuing hapless citizens in order to build up Ray’s survival expertise, which gives him the strength to take on the game’s toughest of areas, but developer Monolith Soft also promises on-rails driving and shooting, as well as intense quick time events that make plentiful use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck’s motion-sensitive controls.
We just can’t believe Disaster: Day of Crisis is actually coming out. Will a US release follow soon?
It does seem strange that Disiaster: Day of Crisis is coming out. This game has had no previews and no real hype until recently. I thought this would be a game that Nintendo could show as appealing to the hardcore crowd. I don’t have high expectations for this game and I think it will get average reviews in the 7.5 range. I live in the United States and it will probably be released in 2009 here. I need a Wii game I can get really excited about. Maybe this Dracula game from Renegade Kid will do the job.
