Nintendo set to push Wii/DS hard in New Zealand
Despite Nintendo losing its one and only major partner over in New Zealand a few months ago, leaving many to wonder just what would happen for the Kyoto Company’s already bleak fortunes over there, a turn around looks to finally be on the horizon.
As of 1st September, Nintendo of Australia will be taking a firm hold over dealings in neighbouring country New Zealand to ensure that Nintendo’s rule of the market there is completely turned around and help fortunes to pick up, just as the team managed to solidify the Number One position in Australia, despite Sony previously having a stronghold over the country.
Nintendo of Australia’s small group will now be overseeing the product distribution and advertising schemes in the ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’. Up until now, the Wii and DS have yet to cause the same sort of storm in New Zealand as the systems have elsewhere in the world, partly because of neglect in general, but also because of poor distribution leading to many gamers being unable to find games they want to actually purchase. Now, though, as well as stronger supplies of mainline titles, Nintendo’s Australian branch will be pushing Wii and DS via several advertising campaigns in New Zealand that will run from 1st September right through to Christmas, with Brain Training, Wii Sports and Wii Fit being the main attractions shown off, and a total of five DS and six Wii campaigns running over the period.
Are there any readers out there from New Zealand? If so, make your voices heard by posting below to discuss the poor situation over there and how things are now changing…
