Nintendo releasing Rhythm Heaven soundtrack
With Rhythm Heaven confirmed as coming over to the North American market for the first time ever in its Nintendo DS form, as opposed to the Game Boy Advance original, hopes are high for its performance being as strong there as it has been so far in Japan. To tap into the increased fan base, Nintendo has a special treat for consumers.
Whilst the GBA edition of the hit music game from the WarioWare team ‘Rhythm Tengoku’ (as it is called in Japan) only managed to sell between 250,000-300,000 units in total due to the Game Boy Advance being overshadowed by the Nintendo DS at the time of release in Japan, the recent DS sequel has stormed the Media Create charts in the Land of the Rising Sun, selling over 600,000 copies so far and still going strong, claiming the No.1 spot in this week’s run-down once again, keeping Wii Fit from grabbing the top slot.
In order to try and tap into the ever-increasing slew of fans that are feverishly tapping away at the catchy tunes in the DS title, Jonnyram of the NeoGAF.com forums has spotted that Nintendo has decided to release a special CD compilation of all the songs from the new game AND the original title. With a total of one-hundred and forty songs included, across a span of three separate CDs, it is presumed that remixes of songs are included, or even studio versions of some tunes and maybe even a couple of ditties that appeared in the arcade edition. The package will come along with a special little booklet that reveals ‘episodes’ of events that occurred during the game’s development as a special treat for fans.
To get a taster of what to expect, some of the tunes from the game can be heard here, whilst the CD collection can now be pre-ordered from the likes of YesAsia for 5250 Yen / US$54.25 [~€37.04]
Is this something readers would be interested in picking up? And have any of you either tried out the GBA original or the highly addictive new DS version? Be sure to let us know by posting below…

The DS game is just… excellent. Each of the little games is superb and the music is excellent. When you’re dealing with a game that focuses on rhythm, you need to have a great soundtrack behind it. It makes me want to get the GBA game, if I can ever find it.
I love the ds game, but have never played the GBA game. I might be interested in that. Although, without the touch screen, it might be a bit like simon says. I’ll look into that.
I am addicted to the music from rhythm heaven, it’s all so good! I would be willing to get this CD. Please let me know when this CD comes out, feel free to email me at festinupe@hotmail.com!
