Nancy Drew to make her debut on Nintendo DS
Gaming sleuths have received yet another reason to snuggle closely with their Nintendo DSs this week as Majesco Entertainment and Gorilla Systems have moved the detective’s magnifying glass over Nancy Drew and The Deadly Secret of Olde World Park, a new interactive mystery adventure starring one of the literary world’s best known female teen heroines.

Nancy Drew and The Deadly Secret of Olde World Park sees the player assume the role of the eponymous female teen detective (who was first created in 1930 by Edward Statemeyer and has sold in excess of 200 million books) as she embarks on a quest to solve the mystery surrounding the disappearance of billionaire Thaddeus Belmont. Players must use guide Nancy as she gathers valuable clues, struggles to decipher challenging puzzles, tails possible suspects, and sneaks around stealthily without being detected across the game’s 15 progressively more taxing chapters.
The Touch Screen component of the innovative Nintendo DS will see players using the stylus to engage in unique conversations throughout the game as well as unlocking intriguing mini-games, and accessing Nancy’s handy Clue Journal to study maps, use inventory items, and learn about game-related tasks.
“Today’s Nancy Drew is a very strong, female lead heroine whose independence and perseverance make her an excellent role model,”
enthused John Merchant, European Marketing Manager for Majesco Entertainment.
“Our new Nintendo DS game captures the spirit of this classic character and brings Nancy to life in an interactive, graphic novel-inspired world.”
From a narrative point of view, the title’s “Olde World” is a multi-million dollar holiday location found in the modest town of River Heights, which promises to create jobs, fun, and tourism for the town through a celebration of the very best in history’s greatest civilisations. The park is the brainchild of aging billionaire industrialist Thaddeus Belmont – who, rumour has it, is on the brink of going broke. And Nancy Drew accepts the challenge of finding Belmont when he goes missing on the very eve of Olde World’s opening.
