Brunswick Pro Bowling on Wii
While Wii Sports quite rightly gathered plenty of critical acclaim and possibly ranks as one of the best ever ‘bundled’ launch games to ever grace a hardware package, there are (always) those who like to point accusatory fingers and point out inadequacies. In the case of Wii Sports, it came down to the accuracy and immersion provided by the Wii Remote and Nunchuk in relaying player movement into on-screen Mii actions. Well, Brunswick Pro Bowling from Crave intends to put pay to those cynical nay-sayers.
With tantalising rumours flying about that Electronic Arts’ hard-hitting Fight Night boxing series is coming to the Nintendo Wii (another area criticised in Wii Sports) it falls to publisher Crave Entertainment to expand the groundwork crafted by Wii Sports and focus singularly on one sporting discipline.

According to Crave, Brunswick Pro Bowling will deliver “a detailed and realistic bowling-center experience” that will create all the genuine sights and sounds players would expect to find when strapping on their bowling shoes and hitting the lanes – all imbued with a visual flare complimented by Brunswick’s bowling gear and equipment. From a customisation point of view, Bruswick Pro Bowling will also allow players to mould everything from their character’s appearance through to ball styles and other accessories.
In the game’s Career Mode, player will strive to achieve bowling perfection by progressing from an amateur to professional rating throughout a full year’s in-game schedule of bowling competitions and tournaments. Environmentally, Brunswick Pro Bowling provides ten authentic bowling alleys, which have been crafted from existing Brunswick bowling centres.
Beyond the single-player competitions, the Multiplayer Mode aspect also offers up gameplay for up to four players, while Quick Play Mode is, as it sounds, quick-fix access to speedy rounds of action.
Brunswick Pro Bowling’s features include the following:
- Realistic physics engine simulates real-time changing lane conditions and accounts for momentum and spin.
- Unlockable content includes a variety of Brunswick balls, additional bowling centres, equipment, and other bowling gear.
- Players in Career Mode will face competitive rivals who seek out and challenge them throughout their careers.
- (In whispered tones…) The PlayStation Portable videogame system version will include an ad hoc wireless multiplayer mode and additional character customisation options.
