MySims on Wii and DS

EA have today officially confirmed, announced and spewed out details of their new title for the Nintendo Wii and DS called MySims. Think of it as the illegitimate child of The Sims and Animal Crossing. More after the jump.

The game is being designed specially for the Wii and DS platforms and introduces a whole new cast of strange characters, creativity, customisation, open-ended gameplay and all the things that Sims fans are used to. But with a whole new twist. Yup, it has gone all kiddy!

EA are trying to sell it as cool and hip apparently. See:

Players begin by creating their own toy-like Sim that reflects their personal style and attitudes. From pig-tails and baseball caps to dreadlocks and Mohawks, the options are endless and the style is unlike any Sims game to date. By unlocking cool new clothing, hairstyles and accessories, players explore the game’s incredible depth of customization and expression… and the characters are just the beginning!

The new twist on the Sims gameplay for the DS and Wii titles will see you (as your Sim) move the player towards a ‘delightful and disorganised’ town where you get the chance to re-shape everything and make it your own. The town might start out looking a bit shabby, but you can spruce it up and make it into a wonderful place. You use a selection of building blocks and objects to build new homes and business and totally change the MySims world. More from the press release:

As players explore and build up the town, they will get to know dedicated, long-time residents like the always-busy Mayor Rosalyn P. Marshall and Buddy – the mostly-lazy hotel Bellhop. Once things start to look up, they’ll meet and choose from a variety of colorful, would-be residents. Will they build a restaurant for Gino Delicioso the Italian Chef, or will they help Ocean Breeze set up his Yoga studio instead?

Each completed task will help the town grow and become more and more prosperous. As it expands to new areas you’ll pick up new building blocks, decorating patterns and suchlike to help customise and better your world. Everything you do changes and influences the way the town feels and the way people act, so your decisions are really important to the well-being of the citizens. Executive Producer Tim LeTourneau had this to say about the Wii and DS projects:

“We want MySims to provide a creative play experience like never before on a video game system. By giving players the tools to create literally any kind of world they want in MySims, we’re reinforcing the idea that the players create the magic. Will the town support a plethora of spooky, mysterious townsfolk – or buzz with the laughter and smiles of fun-loving Sims? It’s your call! In MySims, what players make… makes all the difference!”

Sounds very promising to us, hopefully it can continue EA’s very decent support for the Wii and DS with another cracking little title. Online play too? We can only hope. More soon!
