Scans of Final Fantasy exclusive on Wii, plus new info
Not much has been revealed about Square Enix’s exclusive Wii RPG Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, other than a very early short video clip when the Wii was revealed. Now, though, some more details have arrived as well a scans.
Already being hailed as one of the most anticipated games for Nintendo’s new home console, the Square Enix-developed ‘The Crystal Bearers’, had its lid lifted ever so slightly recently as the company spoke to GamesRadar at its Square Enix Party 2007 last week, with Executive Producer Akitoshi Kawazu and Director Toshiyuki Itahana discussing various aspects of the role-playing game.
First of all, they quickly pointed out that the Wii’s unique controller has allowed for the team to implement extremely smooth movement of the characters and let players pull off impressive attacking moves as well. But it cannot be forgotten that the nunchuk device will also be used for various different purposes, all depending on what situation you are faced with (sounding similar to a context sensitive control setup). Sadly, though, there will be no link-up with the Nintendo DS version ‘Ring of Fates’, as it is not deemed the right time to implement such a feature. Kawazu-san stated:
“Once the Wii units start making it into more and more households and the network capabilities - the infrastructure and such - become much more solid, then we would like to start contemplating these concepts.”
Although disappointing to many, you have to read between the lines here as it appears he is hinting at future Crystal Chronicles games on Wii and DS at some point. Other than that little morsel of news, it was also stressed that the solo experience in the Wii game is being developed far more than its GameCube counterpart was and they are working on “a whole new direction in terms of the worldview”. Wrapping things up, Itahana-san stated that although the goal with most teams is to get the maximum potential from a console, “we don’t want things like hardware specs and how hardware is used to interfere…so that the original vision is lost, or that it is taken over by a feature in the hardware, or whatever.”
In addition to this, some scans have appeared from Japanese publication Shonen Jump, which can be seen below [ Click to Enlarge ]:
