Japan gets another Final Fantasy DS bundle
Fact: there have been more Final Fantasy bundles released over the series’ 20 year history than there are species of insect discovered around the world; a gap that looks to be widen even further thanks to news unveiled in Japanese magazine, Famitsu.
The publication reports that to commemorate the future release of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, Square Enix will be releasing a new Nintendo DS bundle for lucky Japanese players to pick up (the few who still don’t own the handheld, we suspect). The package, which they’re elaborately calling the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates Gemini Edition, will carry both a copy of the game and a crystal white version of the console, decorated with the game’s logo and an accompanying piece of artwork. Very swish it looks, too.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates is the sequel to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Nintendo GameCube. Ring of Fates takes place in a time when “The red moon shone, and people feared the crystal,”beginning with a pair of fraternal twins, Yuri and Cherinka, as the heroes in a tale of family bonds.
Most of the gameplay takes place on the top screen. The touch screen shows maps, as well as stylus access for different weapon attacks. Special attacks have also been confirmed in the game. By pressing the right shoulder button, the screens will swap allowing enemies to be attacked just by touching them with the stylus. If done correctly, chained attacks can be performed.
The aforementioned deal will set you back 21,840 Yen ($176 USD), so its a pretty good offer all in all. The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates Gemini Edition will be released in Japanese stores on August 23 this year, but as for a release in other territories, we wouldn’t hold your breath if we were you. The game on its own, meanwhile is down for sometime this year in North America, but no specific date has been specified.
