Some big news on the Nintendo Wii front arrives today. Well, it’s not been officially confirmed just yet, but N-Europe’s “trusted sources” seem to be pretty sure of it - that the Wii version of Mario Kart set to be revealed at E3 this week, will be released in Europe before 2007 reaches a close.

And that’s not all: Mario Kart for the Wii will be a “replacement” for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Europe, which will sadly miss Europe this year, and it will be out early 2008 instead” reports the site. “However, this also means that the US will not see Mario Kart until early 2008, and they will be getting Smash Bros. Brawl in 2007. This means that Nintendo fans in both Europe and the US will have something to moan about (they’ll have something to be glad about, too….but there will probably be more moaning).

So that’s Europe to receive Mario Kart Wii, but to miss out on Super Smash Bros. Brawl in 2007, and the opposite in North America. N-Europe harks back to the words of June Patrick Nagel, Deputy Marketing Manager of Nintendo, who claimed in June this year that Europe would see Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Mario Kart in 2007.

We’re not sure what sort of tactics Nintendo has up its sleeve if such a plan does come to fruition, but with E3 starting on Wednesday, we won’t have very long to find out.
