Take-Two has today announced its line-up for the E3 Media and Business Summit, just in time for the event’s beginning tomorrow in Santa Monica, California. Of the five games detailed, just one is due to hit Nintendo machines, but it’s a good ‘un - Sid Meier’s Civilization.

Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolutions will be the first offering in the legendary Civilization series to appear on next generation consoles (Nintendo Wii) as well as its first outing on a handheld (Nintend DS). In development with Firaxis Games, it promises to offer a single player campaign of epic proportions. In addition, real-time interaction with leaders and advisors and an extensive multiplayer mode are included in the hope of making it the most complete entry in the long-running series.

Voice chat is also mentioned in Take-Two’s blurb, and, although feasible, we’re not sure whether the Nintendo Wii and its portable cousin will take make use of this feature or not. What is clear as we look forward to the title’s release in spring 2008 is that both Nintendo’s platforms will offer a control method to suit the demanding gameplay. We’ve already seen how effective the DS’ stylus can adapt to territory once monopolised by the PC mouse (Theme Park, Anno 1701 etc.), while the Wii Remote’s pointer control must certainly be looked upon as a viable control solution.

Civilization, first released in 1991, is one of the most popular turn-based strategy series’ of all time, having spawned numerous sequels and copycat developments since.
