E3: Miyamoto on Wii one-to-one sword fighting

Chatting to IGN, legendary Nintendo developer, Shigeru Miyamoto, has been elaborating on the possibility of a Nintendo-created sword-fighting game featuring one-to-one controls on the Wii - and the signs look good.

One-to-one sword fighting is something Wii owners have been pining for ever since the system’s launch late last year, but so far neither Nintendo nor a third party have produced something top notch along those lines. Speaking to IGN, Miyamto hinted that some talks concerning that type of experience had taken place. And if we’re to stick our necks out, we’d predict that the Kyoto-based firm already as something of the sort in the works already.

“Did I say something I shouldn’t have, SEGA?”

“We haven’t announced anything, so I can’t speak about any particulars, but we do have a lot of ideas about how we could potentially use the Wii remote for something like that,” Miyamoto said.

He also pointed to the upcoming Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games as a title that may very well include such a feature. “There will be some fencing in Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that, so if I’m not, I’m very sorry, SEGA,” , he joked.
