Ragnarok Online for Nintendo DS - First Details!
When it was first announced that popular PC online game Ragnarok would be coming to the Nintendo DS, nobody expected it would also be retaining its strong online roots. However, it seems that people just to conclusions too soon.
Now the first details about the DS edition have now appeared across the Internet and Nintendic has the summary of what is to be on offer below, straight from the mouth of publisher Gungho Entertainment, plus some other morsels of news:
- The game is to be based off the popular Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game from the PC;
- This edition is set to make full use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for online play;
- Wi-Fi will also be used in conjunction with offline promotions and extra downloadable content, hinting that there is an offline mode included as well;
- There are currently 2.5 million Ragnarok Online accounts in Japan, so the company is expecting the Nintendo DS game to at least reach the 100,000 units mark in its home territory or be deemed a disappointment;
- GungHo also has plans to bring out some other DS games, such as Aquazon DS and Flower Arrangement DS;
- GungHo owns various development teams, such as GameArts, Takara and Brocoli, all of which are set to develop new console titles in the near future;
- There are also titles in the pipeline for the PlayStation Portable.

This is good and all but I don’t think its going to apply to me.
I would buy this but the problem is I think this is going the way of Nexon where its 1 region only.
Plus US isn’t nearly as supportive of wifi hot spots as it should be. People either don’t have wireless routers/ good wireless routers or they password their routers. =(, I’d have to be at home to play my DS online - unless offline mode is directly progressive to online - even better if I can use my Wii to display it on my 47″ while playing through my DS. Heck even better if they just make it a peripheral to RO2 on the Wii.
ragnarok is amazing, ds is amazing. put them together with wifi online, as long as the wifi doesn’t suck and the game runs just like cpu this will be the greatest thing to hit ds, korea. japan will go insane with portable ragnarok online. haha
This sounds really good. Its online better be sweet with alittle bit of alot to do, if Nintendo could take mario 64 & put it on DS with alot more to do, Then these guy makin it could put alot of shit into this game.
My big hope is that the Wi-Fi feature will be awsome along with venturing of with other players, NO DAMN FREIND CODES! Lots of fun mission, customize your characters, get loads of sweet armor and weapons. I just hope the Wi-fi won’t end up like the Final fantasy games did, Ring of fates could have been multiplayer online.
