FIFA 08 release date officially announced
Electronic Arts has officially confirmed the launch date for its latest annual football title, FIFA 08. September 28 is the date when keen soccer fans from around the world will be able to net themselves a copy of the fully licensed sports title.
Kick off (again) this September.
Regarding the Nintendo Wii version, FreeMotion is what EA is calling the new control system that lets you “use motions to control everything from tackling to shooting and throw-ins to freekicks.”
In addition, there’s a Footii Party mode, which isn’t just looking like a rushed add-on either. Oh, no, it’ll boast a trio of slick-looking mini-games: Table Soccer, Juggling (or keepy-uppy), and a game called Boot It, a cartoon-like penalty shoot out in which your Mii takes centre stage. Players will use Wii Remote gestures to shoot and save the ball, and can even pit their wits against a Mii styled on world famous buck-toothed footballing genius, Ronaldinho.
Oh, and did we mention the small detail of online play, too?
The Nintendo DS version (although stripped down graphically) will also include enhanced AI, customisable formations, and the chance to take on a role as a single player to experience an entire season, tracking your progress as you go.
The Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS versions will be priced at $49.95 USD and $29.95 USD respectively in the US.
How come FIFA 08 is NOT coming out for GameCube!!! That is abominable!

I’ve been waiting for the ‘Position Lock’ feature for quite some time now. I think that will require more soccer like thinking and be fun in a different way.
