Victorious Boxers: Revoultion announced for Wii
No sooner had we announced that 10Tcle Games was breathing new life into the Ready 2 Rumble Boxing series on Wii, that another new boxing game based on the punch-heavy sport has been announced for the console. This time it’s XSEED Games, whose Victorious Boxers: Revolution will be making its way to the virtual ring at the end of September.
Unlike the aforementioned Ready 2 Rumble which demonstrates an arcade-y approach to the sport, Victorious Boxers: Revolution promises realistic boxing action in an anime style, with intuitive controls that make full use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. XSEED promises that you’ll be able to perform jabs, straights, uppercuts and hooks, as well as defensive manoeuvres such as ducks and sways.
The title will feature a full story mode which centres on a high school student by the name of Ippo Makunouchi, bullied by his school mates, but rising his way through the boxing ranks.
For those Wii owners with armchair junkie friends, Victorious Boxers also features the choice to opt-out from frantic Wii Remote and Nunchuck gesturing, with the option to use the Classic Controller instead.
Check out some of the game’s key features
- Realistic one-on-one boxing experience, the first of its kind on the Wii
- Massive Story Mode with loads of in-game cut-scenes, voiced dialogue and plenty of unlockable content including special abilities, stages and boxers, with three difficulty settings to choose from
- Sparring Mode with a variety of adjustable settings such as number of rounds and knock-down limits
- 25 playable characters to choose from, each with their own unique special moves such as the Gazelle Punch, Shotgun and
- Flicker Jab, and ability to adjust their speed, power and strength parameters
- Three different types of control modes: Swing Mode allows the player to punch and maneuver using the Wii Remote and
- Nunchuk as if they are wearing boxing gloves; Pointer Mode allows the player to point and place a cursor on their target on screen and execute the moves with a smaller movement of the Wii
- Remote; and Classic Controller Mode
- A variety of stages / venues to choose from, including Sydney City Arena, Las Vegas Palace and Korakuen Hall
Make sure to check out GameSpot’s run through of the game in the video above. Victorious Boxers was originally a hit on the Sony PlayStation 2, so we’ve high hopes for the Wii effort.

Nintendo is its proper one to publisher, as soon as knows that it always can produce games of the quality for its same system without others devs… that they are in a different situation
