Alan Hansen’s Sports Challenge: do you care?

We’re not sure the majority of North Americans will have a clue who Alan Hansen is, but to British and other European soccer fans he was known as a talented footballer for Liverpool FC until a knee injury in 1991 ended his playing career. Fortunately he went onto become a massively successful pundit with the BBC and is now gearing up to release Alan Hansen’s Sports Challenge on Wii.

Featuring the somewhat dour Scotsman, the title will be released in time for Christmas, in which players will face up against a tirade of questions from the ‘know it all’ sportsman. It isn’t clear whether the questions will wholly centre on football, but from the name, we’d guess other popular sporting teasers are included too.

Jim Scott, Oxygen Games’ CEO said:

“Hansen is a legend, and with his natural dry wit, he will bring a great twist to the world of serious sports quizzes. Not only is he respected by men but the ladies love him too! We’re expecting there to be more than sports fans heading to the shops for our Sports Challenge this Christmas!”

It’s hardly going to be rivalling any of Nintendo’s first party titles this Holiday season, but with casual games infiltrating home consoles like never before, we’d be foolish to suggest that there isn’t a market for Sports Challenge out there.
