MLB Power Pros announced for Nintendo Wii
If Wii Sports baseball has left you continually raging at the Mii on first base who always catches you out and you’re in need of a break, but still want your baseball fix, then Konami might just have the answer. The popular developer and Take-Two Interactive have announced a new Major League Baseball title - MLB Power Pros for Nintendo Wii.
MLB Power Pros is based on the original game “Power Pro” which has been an extremely popular title in Japan for years. Its quirky visual style might not be to everyone’s taste, but 2K Games (who are bringing the game to North America) is making full use of its official license, so hopefully you’ll easily be able to recognise the caricatures of your favourite baseball stars. In addition, every Major League stadium has been faithfully re-created, complete with any recognisable landmarks.
“For years, Konami’s Power Pro Baseball has been Japan’s No. 1 baseball game, in sales and fan ratings,” said Kazumi Kitaue, Chairman and CEO of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “Now, in an excellent partnership with 2K Sports, it is with great pleasure that we bring Power Pro Baseball to the North American market as MLB Power Pros, where this great sport was born.”
It probably won’t turn out to be the most exhaustive baseball re-creation we’re likely to see on Wii, but for a quick, ‘pick up and play’ experience, it looks easily like it could knock Wii Sports baseball right out of the park.
MLB Power Pros is planned for release this autumn.
