Famitsu uncovers Chocobo Mystery Dungeon info
The latest issue of the Japanese gaming publication Famitsu has revealed new details with regard to the job system, storyline and control method being worked on for Square-Enix’s Nintendo Wii title, Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Labyrinth of Time.
The magazine reports that Labyrinth of Time will feature Final Fantasy stars Chocobo and Cid as they attempt to help the people of The City of Forgotten Time to reclaim their lost memories. Tagging along with them is a young lad named Raphael who has the power to conjure up the Labyrinth of Memories - randomly generated dungeons separated into two types: one in which forgotten memories can be re-captured and another in which dangerous boss battles await.
Although a staple feature in many Final Fantasy adventures, the job system will appear in the Chocobo Mysterious Dungeon series for the first time. Gamers will be able to pick from a selection of 10 classes, each with its own unique attributes. Some, for example, will offer better offensive strategies, while others will specialise in casting magic spells. As players work their way through the adventure, their abilities will grow stronger in tandem.
As for controlling the game, Famitsu explains that it doesn’t matter whether players hold the Wii Remote horizontally or vertically, although it preferred the latter method.
Labyrinth of time is currently set for a winter release in Japan, although no release dates for any other territories have been announced.
