Top Spin tennis smashes onto Wii
2K Sports, part of Take-Two Interactive has revealed that it will be serving up the first realistic tennis action on the Nintendo Wii in the form of Top Spin Tennis.
In a method of control that we’re pleased to say deviates from the simplicity of Wii Sports’ tennis simulation, in Top Spin Tennis gamers will use the Nunchuck to move the player and aim their shot, while the Wii Remote will be used to strike the ball. As you’d expect, the type of shot youdeliver will depend on the power and angle at which the Remote is swung.
Gameplay modes include singles, doubles, mixed and non-mixed matches, exhibition, tournament and more, with four levels of difficulty and ten international venues. 2K Sports also promises more than a dozen licensed real-life tennis professionals as well as ten original characters (you know, the ones who you never, ever pick). As is becoming tradition on Wii of late, a set of party games will be bundled along with the main game.
Said Christoph Hartmann of President of 2K:
We are excited to bring our popular Top Spin series to the Wii. Given the Wii’s unique controllers and the fun family-oriented gameplay, Top Spin Tennis effectively bridges the gap between a sports and a party game.”
- Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K.
Developed by 2K’s Paris studio PAM Development in conjunction with 2K Shanghai, Top Spin Tennis will be available exclusively on Wii in Spring 2008.
